A donation has also been received for Joseph Yankech Sr from Agnes Novotny. Second CollectionNext weekend we participate in the special collection for the Campaign for Human Development. For more than 25 years, this initiative of the Catholic Church has worked to address the root causes of poverty. The Campaign has funded thousands of projects that have empowered people to work together to solve community problems, create jobs, and build affordable housing. The Campaign gives us an opportunity to respond to the Gospel's call to solidarity with the poor. Please give generously. 1997 Seminary AppealWe are happy to announce that $3,955.00 was collected for Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary from our parish. Thank you for your continued support and financial generosity. |
Thank YouMany thanks from all of the parishioners to Leonard S. Sabocsik (Photography by Len) for the beautiful portrait of Father Cy which he prepared and donated to St. Joseph's Church which is on display in the church vestibule. This portrait will hang in the school hall along with our other past pastors. May God's greatest blessings be given to you and your family, Len. Congratulations! We would like to congratulate Helen Bullock who received a personal thank you from Mr. Jim Thornton, President of Brandywine Hospital, on receiving her 10,000 hour guard at the Annual Volunteer Awards Luncheon on April 24th. Great Job, Helen! A Family PerspectiveToday's Gospel hits home--your home and mine! Because Jesus was not accepted in his hometown, "he could do no miracles there." In our homes, it is so easy to overlook each other's talents and gifts and to take them for granted. Allow miracles to happen in your home; recognize and appreciate those with whom you live. Bulletin BriefThere can be no civilized life in a society that sanctions wanton killing. There can be no civil society when the law makes the weak, the defenseless and the inconvenient expendable. There can be no real democracy if the law denies the sanctity of every human life.
