Second Collection

Your offering to the Catholic Church's Campaign for Human Development gives hope to poor and low-income people who are working together to build a better life. For more than twenty five years, CHD funded programs have enabled low-income communities to create jobs, build affordable housing, and provide economic opportunity. This nationwide program funds successful projects here in our diocese. Please give generously.

A Family Perspective

Families often feel powerless, pulled, stretched and exhausted, trying to fight the negative forces of our culture. Jesus reminds us in today's Gospel that he "has given us authority over unclean spirits." We must not be silent or timid, for our children are at risk. We must be bold witnesses to the truth.

Bulletin Brief

Over more than two centuries of our national history, we Americans have been a people who struggled to widen the circle of those for whom we acknowledge a common responsibility. Slaves were freed, women...franchised, civil rights and voting rights acts were passed. Our public spaces were made accessible to the handicapped...This great trajectory in our national experience, that of inclusion, was shattered by Roe v. Wade...By denying an entire class of human beings the protection of the laws, we have betrayed the best in our tradition. -Congressman Henry Hyde.
