CCD News

The religious education of our children is one of our most important responsibilities as Catholic parents. Our CCD program provides religious education opportunities for all school age and preschool age children in the parish. Preschool children must be at least four years old as of September 1, 1997, and for the older students, we are pleased to announce that we will be offering a new youth program this year for students in grade 6 and above. This program will enable our young people to put to good use the gifts of Holy Spirit that they received in Confirmation.

Registration for the 1997/98 CCD year and for the youth program will be held the first two weeks in August: August 2nd/3rd and August 9th/10th. You may register your children after any of the Masses. Registration will be held in the school hall. Classes will begin on Sunday, September 21st.

A Family Perspective

In today's Gospel, Philip was worried about "buying enough bread" for the crowd. What is enough? When do we have too much and deprive another family of their fair share? Tough questions for families, since we live in a culture that bombards us with the message that more is better. In the Gospel, Jesus was able to feed the whole crowd because one person was willing to share. Without that sharing, there would not have been a miracle.

"Jesus saw a vast crowd. He pitied them for they were like sheep without a shepherd; and he began to teach them at great length."
