We will have a Mission Co-op on August 16th & 17th. Father Curt Kreml, OFM, will speak to us about their mission and will offer the 6:30 Saturday and 10:30 Sunday Masses. A second collection will be taken up at these two masses. Please be generous.

Congratulations are extended to Christine and Theodore Claypoole on their recent reception of the Sacrament of Marriage.

Just a reminder - please do not forget to pick up your envelopes. Thank you.

We would like to welcome Ms. Lorna Nagy and her daughter Carli into our parish family.

CCD Registration

Registration for the 1997/1998 CCD year and for the youth program will continue this weekend August 9th/10th. No payment is necessary now. You may register your children after any of the Masses. Registration will be held in the school hall. Classes will begin on Sunday, September 21st.

CCD Organizational Meeting

An organizational meeting for the 1997/1998 CCD year will be held on Sunday, August 17th after the 10:30 Mass. This meeting is to establish teaching assignments, review curriculum and discuss the CCD schedule. All current CCD teachers and anyone else interested in helping in any way with the program are urged to attend this meeting. The meeting will be held in the Rectory.

Holy Day of Obligation

Friday, August 15th brings us the beautiful summer Feast of Mary, The Assumption into Heaven. Some refer to it as "Mary's Easter" or her "Falling Asleep in the arms of the Lord". It is a Holy Day of Obligation. To fulfill your obligation, the Vigil Mass will be offered in St. Joseph's Church on Thursday, August 14th at 7:00pm. On the Holy Day itself, August 15th, Masses will be offered in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church at 9:00am and 7:00pm. We hope that this arrangement will be beneficial and convenient for our faithful parishioners.

A Family Perspective

Listen to Jesus in today's Gospel: "Do not complain among yourselves." What good does it do? If we have a problem, we need to state it honestly, clearly, with affection and at the appropriate time. Constant complaining becomes nagging. We might feel better, but others will feel bitter.

Candlelight Prayer

An All-Night Candlelight Prayer Vigil will be held at Planned Parenthood, 12 South Wayne Street, West Chester, on Friday, August 22nd from 9pm until 6am on Saturday, August 23rd. Area pro-lifers will gather to plea to God that the scourge of abortion will be lifted from our land.

Mass will be celebrated at St. Agnes Church, 231 Gay Street, West Chester, at 8:15pm to pray for an end to all abortion.

Women’s Club News

Planning for the new year must begin. Please plan to attend our first meeting on Monday, August 25th 7:30 in the school hall. Please come prepared with ideas, suggestions, and willingness to participate by chairing various events. Looking forward to seeing everyone. Refresments will be served by Carol Ryan and Tina Taylor.

Our Sunshine Committee is still active. Please let Mary Benkovich know if anyone in the parish is on the sick list.

We are again going to try to organize a GREETERS COMMITTEE for St. Joseph’s Church. If you are interested, please call Ann Cigas.

"Jesus saw a vast crowd. He pitied them for they were like sheep without a shepherd; and he began to teach them at great length."
