Masses for the Week
Join In Singing22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time Among the most the vital of our responsibilities as a community of faith, is sharing in worship with one another. Our Sunday celebration, the Mass, is best celebrated when we all participate. All hymns are located in the misalette.
AnnouncementsWelcomeWe would like to welcome Ms. Karen Rakowski and daughter Ashley Morales, along with Ms. Tammy Gregor and her son Jeffrey Seese into our parish community. Adult ChoirRehearsals for the Adult Choir (ages 14 and up) will begin on Wednesday, September 17th at 7:00pm. Anyone who wishes to join us this season is most welcome to attend. There are no tryouts and you don't need to know how to read music. All you need is the desire to sing. Announcing our Mass ScheduleAll things considered, prayed over and consulted
about, it seems advisable to keep our summer weekend Mass schedule
and follow it in the coming season. Beginning next weekend, September
6th-7th, Mass will continue to be offered at 6:30pm on Saturdays
and at 10:30am on Sundays. On most Saturday evenings, beginning
September 6th, Father John Hagen, O.S.A. will be available for
the hearing of confessions from 5:45 until 6:15pm, prior to Mass. On those occasions, when your circumstances demand alternate Mass times for the weekend, kindly keep in mind the opportunities for attending Mass at our other West End Church, St. Stanislaus Kostka: Saturdays at 5:00pm and Sundays at 9:00am. Also, the Church offering envelopes of one Parish are honored by the other Parish, resulting in an "envelope swap", so that parishioners might fulfill their financial responsibility with their proper Parish. Thank you for your outstanding cooperation as this new parochial venture takes form: the sharing of one priest between two Churches. Your openness, understanding and loyalty are greatly appreciated. Let us pray for one another as the Holy Spirit leads us to His horizons of renewal, growth and life. God love you! Father John Oulds |
Instructions in the FaithDo you know of someone in your family or among your neighbors who has expressed an interest in the Catholic Faith? Or is it a baptized Catholic adult who received little or no religious education to advance to Communion and/or Confirmation? Our RCIA Program addresses these situations in a welcoming, friendly, informative manner. For full details and registration, call Father John at 384-1172. It is hoped that the RCIA presentations could be underway by mid October. Community AffairsOur Recent Cluster Planning Discussions indicated that our local Catholic Churches are not sufficiently involved in community affairs. We wish to assist civic and social organizations in their efforts to improve our society, especially morally. If you are a member of a civic or social group, you can help us in this undertaking. Please fill out a form on the vestibule table concerning civic organizations. Thank you for your cooperation! The Rosary SocietyIntentions for September
Jesus Group - Glorious Mysteries Women's Club NewsAt their meeting this week, activities were planned for the fall. We kindly ask that you mark these events on your calendars for future planning. We, as always, look forward to your support of these projects.
We have also scheduled Pierogie Making Sessions for Oct. 4th, Nov. 1st, and Nov. 15th. The more hands we have at these sessions, the quicker the job is finished. Welcome to all who wish to learn. As one of our Community Projects, we will again participate in the Needlework Guild, which benefits the Brandywine Hospital, Home Health Care, Salvation Army and the Pocopson Home. For this project we need baby clothing (in pairs), childrens and adult clothing - all must be new. We hope you will begin collecting these items for us. If you have any questions, please call Margaret Florian, Chairman. Thanks in advance. Money is also acceptable - Margaret will do your shopping for you! If any woman in the Parish would care to join the Womens Club, please call Rose Olise, Membership Chairman or Ann B. Cigas. |
