AnnouncementsThe Comboni Missionary Sisters this month begin their third year of ministry to the poor, the elderly and the Hispanic community in Coatesville. They are seeking to form a support group of volunteers who would be willing to aid in their many good works. To organize this effort, a meeting will be held at St. Cecilia Church on Monday evening, October 6th. For additional details, kindly see the colored flyers on the tables in the Church vestibule. Pennsylvanians for Human Life is looking for dedicated people to volunteer as pro-life speakers. A training session will be conducted on Saturday, September 27th, from 9:00am to 3:30pm. The Franciscan Friars are offering a weekend Live In experience for single Catholic Men, ages 18 to 40, who are interested in exploring Religious Life in the Church today. Do you know of someone in your family or among your neighbors who has expressed an interest in the Catholic Faith? Or is it a baptized Catholic adult who received little or no religious education to advance to Communion and/or Confirmation? RemindersThere will be a Pastoral Council Meeting will be held on Monday, September 22nd at 7:30pm. We will meet in the Rectory. All Pastoral Council members are urged to attend. The Adult and Youth Choirs will begin rehearsals this week. The Adult Choir will meet on Wednesday, September 17th at 7pm and the Youth Choir will meet on Monday, September 15th at 6:30pm. New members are most welcome to attend. If you have any questions please call Craig Cigas. CCDCCD Classes will resume next Sunday, September 21st. Class will be held before the 10:30 Mass. We will start at 9:15 and finish at 10:15. The Sunday Morning CCD classes are for Pre-Kindergarten through 5th grade. Everyone should meet in the school hall. See the youth program announcement for students in grades 6 and above. The start of the CCD Year Party will be held this Sunday, September 14th in the school hall. The party will start at 11:30 and end at 1:00. Youth ProgramThe new Youth Program will begin meeting in October. The dates and times will be announced in the near future. The program is open to students in grade six and above. This new approach to catechesis will combine continuing formation in our Catholic faith with opportunities to put our faith into practice through service. Public and parochial school students are welcome! A Family PerspectiveIn families, we take up many little crosses and follow Jesus. We bite our tongues, pick up after others, and watch someone else's favorite TV show instead of ours. These ordinary sacrifices are the holiness our salvation is made of. Boy/Girl ScoutsAll girls, kindergarten thru high school are invited to join the Girl Scouts of Coatesville Catholic. Registration will be at North Brandywine Middle School on Thursday, September 18th at 7:00pm. Bring your daughter's immunization records to complete her health history, and $7 registration. You may contact Sharon Andrews with any questions. Cadette and Senior Girls Scouts from any troop interested in earning the highest Catholic Religious award in Scouts, the Marian Award, should also contact Mrs. Andrews. Boy Scout Troop 16 will be holding a Spaghetti Dinner on Sunday, September 21 from 2:00-7:00pm at the LGM Hall located on 32 Chester Avenue, Coatesville. The menu includes Spaghetti with Meatball(s), tossed salad, roll and butter, dessert, coffee/tea. Take outs will be available so please bring your containers. The cost is $5.00 for a SMALL (Queen size portion with one meatball) and $6.00 for a LARGE (King size portion with two meatballs). Covered Dish SocialSt. Joseph Parishioners are invited to attend a Covered Dish Social to honor the faculty of C.A.C.E.S. (Coatesville Area Elementary School) and wish them well for another successful school year. It will be held on Sunday, September 28th at 5:30pm in St. Joseph's School Hall. Please bring your spouse or a guest! The club will provide the entree of chicken. If you are interested in attending, a sign-up sheet is posted on the bulletin board in the church vestibule. Or, you may contact Andy Levenite or Sue Dunlap with the number attending and what culinary specialty (appetizer), dessert, veggie, salad you would like to bring.
