Announcements

A donation in memory of Helen Bullock was received from Paul F. Collins and is gratefully acknowledged.

In partnership with the Churches of the Coatesville Area, we are participating in the Annual Operation Thanksgiving Food Drive this weekend. Donations of boxed stuffing mix are being received at our Church as a part of the holiday food baskets for distribution to the needy of our community. Thank you for your kind response! Look for us to be engaged in a similiar community campaign of charity at Christmas.

Church Birthdays

There are all sorts and kinds of birthday parties. Church buildings as well as the people who use them have anniversaries for their beginnings. Today it is for Our Savior's Basilica and Saint John's Baptistry, the pope's cathedral as bishop of the people of Rome. We belong to the "Roman family" in the church, so it is our feast too. Celebrate the Lord's coming! God's people are truly the place of Christ's presence in the world. We would all do well to celebrate the birthday of our own church or parish or community of faith, acknowledging Christ's presence with thanks.

Pastoral Council

A Pastoral Council meeting will be held on Monday, November 17th, at 7:30pm. We will meet in the Rectory. All Pastoral Council members are urged to attend.

Altar Servers

Any boy or girl wishing to become an altar server please sign up in the back of the church, or contact Mr. Vince Krupansky. You must be in fourth grade or older. Thank you. Lessons will begin in November.

Volunteers Needed

Birthright of West Chester offers women in unplanned pregnancies alternatives to abortion. These women come seeking information on prenatal care, housing, day care and adoption. Birthright is busier than ever in their 15 year history, and more volunteers are needed to extend their hours of availability. There will be an informational meeting for new volunteers on Wednesday, November 12th, at 7:00pm. If interested, please call them at 436-0773.

A Family Perspective

Jesus was disappointed when He saw people selling inside the temple. Disappointed is a normal part of all relationships. Married couples disappoint each other. Parents are disappointed by their children, and children by their parents, but they must never give up on each other.

Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ,

Since 1885, the Black and Indian Home Mission Collection has been an effective means for the Catholic Church in the United States to support the work of evangelization in our own country. This collection is taken up by our Catholic bishops and pastors for the exclusive use of the work of priests, religious and lay catechists among people within our Black and Native American communities.

A number of parishes and programs in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia benefit from the proceeds of this national collection local initiatives. By your generosity, you participate in the mission of Jesus to Proclaim the Good News throughout the world by assisting those who are among our own neighbors.

The 1997 Black and Indian Home Mission Collection will be taken up in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia on the weekend of November 15th & 16th, 1997. The requests for grants continue to exceed the amount contributed. Therefore, your support is needed more than ever. Everyone, regardless of age, may assist in the work of evangelization by contributing to this annual appeal.

With prayerful best wishes, I remain
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Most Reverend Edward P. Cullen, D.D., V.G.
Vicar for Administration
