Announcements

Our family pride is showing at this weekend's 10:30am Mass, during which we feature a brief Ceremony of Enrollment for the 13 boys and girls in the 1998 First Communion Class. Although their preparation has already gotten underway for the Springtime reception of First Penance and First Eucharist, in a formal way we introduce our future first communicants to the Parish community and give recognition to the program of instruction in which they are engaged at home and in class. We pledge to the youngsters our support by frequent prayer and words of encouragement. Congratulations to:

The Comboni Missionary Sisters welcome the involvement of interested lay people in their varied activities. All are invited to attend an organizational meeting in the Sisters' Convent (58 South 6th Avenue), at 6:30pm, on Tuesday, January 13th. Your support of the Comboni Apostolate in our community would be greatly appreciated.

Your kind Christmas cards and other thoughtful holiday remembrances are gratefully acknowledged by the priests in ministry at St. Joseph Church. Thank you for such expressions of warmth and friendship at this blessed season of the Savior's Birth. God love you!

Pastoral Council

A Pastoral Council Meeting will be held on Monday, January 19th at 7:30pm. We will meet in the Rectory. We will be reviewing our parish and cluster goals under the area of Worship. All Pastoral Council Members are urged to attend.

A Family Perspective

Today's second reading reminds us that we are the adopted children of God. Many families adopt a child, an honorary aunt or uncle, a neighbor. This is one way that we share the glorious heritage to which we have all been called.

Emmaus Nights

A Discernment Series sponsored by the Vocation Office for Diocesan Priesthood. Bimonthly sessions, on the second and fourth Wednesday, 7:30-9:30pm, resuming on Wednesday, January 14th, 1998 at St. Charles Seminary for those men who are seriously discerning the call to priesthood. The evening will include communal prayer, topics of interest, group discussion and refreshments. No registration is needed. Call the Vocation Office for details, (610)667-5778.
