Announcements

The following donations in memory of Brandon Cain (Great grandson of Mrs. Anne Reshey) have been received and are gratefully acknowledged: Frances and Robert Shesko & Anne Reshey. In memory of Rose Kozacheson from Roe & Richard Moretto.

The St. Charles Borromeo Seminary Annual Appeal is being taken up as the Second Collection this weekend. Please be as generous as possible in assisting the Seminary in preparing our future priests for Ordination. As noted on the materials forwarded to your household, you may send your donation directly to the Seminary or drop your envelope in the collection basket. Do pray, please, for an increase in vocations to the Diocesan Priesthood.

Reminder - You have received your envelopes this past week for the Seminary Collection. Please be as generous as you were last year. If you did not receive an envelope from the Seminary, please pick one up in the Church. Donations received in the church collection will be forwarded to the Seminary. Our 1998 Goal has been set at $2,280.00; we will therefore need the support of all parishioners.

Thank you to the many parishioners who participated in the recent postal card campaign in support of overriding the Presidential veto regarding the ban on the partial-birth abortion procedure. Approximately 360 cards went in the mail on Monday, January 26th, bearing our firm pro-life position.

Confessions next weekend will be heard on Sunday, February 15th, from 9:45 until 10:15am, prior to the morning Mass.

The Lenten Season opens on Ash Wednesday, February 25th. The blessing and distribution of ashes will be featured at all Services of the day in St. Joseph Church: Mass at 9:00am, Mass at 7:00pm and in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church: Mass at 9:00am, Prayer Service at 12:05pm, Mass at 5:30pm.

Kindly note that, in addition to the morning daily Mass at 9 o'clock, alternating weekly between the two churches, there will be two evening Mass opportunities throughout Lent: on Tuesdays at 7:00pm in St. Joseph Church, on Wednesdays at 5:30pm in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church. Plan on making a spiritually beneficial Lent this year.

Please keep in your good prayers this week His Eminence, Anthony Cardinal Bevilacqua who celebrates his 10th Anniversary as Archbishop of Philadelphia on February 11th. May God grant him the physical and spiritual well-being needed to fulfill his responsibilities as our local Shepherd.

Pastoral Council

A Pastoral Council meeting will be held on Monday, February 16th at 7:30pm. We will meet in the Rectory. We will be reviewing our parish and cluster goals under the areas of Community and Service. All pastoral council members are urged to attend.

St. Joseph's Church "75th Anniversary" Celebration!

St. Joseph's Church will celebrate its 75th Anniversary in the Spring of 1999, and to commemorate this memorable event we need to have a committee to plan this wonderful celebration. We need to start planning now and we need as much help as possible.

There will be an organizational meeting on Tuesday, February 10th, at 7:00pm. In last week's bulletin we said the meeting was going to be held in the parish hall. There has been a change of plans, please note that we will be meeting in the Rectory Meeting Room instead, same time.

Please bring your ideas and be prepared to have a great time. If you are unable to attend this meeting but would still like to help or share ideas, please call Lisa Hillman.

Friday Night at Overbrook

Friday Night at Overbrook, for college-age and young adult men, is being sponsored by the Vocation Office for Diocesan Priesthood on Friday, February 20th, 1998 from 7:00-9:00pm at Saint Charles Seminary. This night will give the young adult Catholic man an opportunity to explore the question of priesthood in the modern world. Call the Vocation Office for details, (610)667-5778.

A Family Perspective

Like St. Paul, parents, godparents, and all family members are called to hand on the faith they have received. If what you received is unclear or uncertain, what are some ways you can clarify and strengthen it?
