Parish Memorial FundOften enough the observance of a significant occasion, like our 75th Anniversary of Founding next year, prompts a bit of refurbishing and freshening up when it comes to Church appointments and that associated with worship. Over the years, our Parish Memorial Fund has permitted us to do just that. In anticipation of our Diamond Jubilee Year, however, special projects and purchases come to light. A sort of "wish list" takes shape which some of our kind parishioners may well want to draw from, so as to establish an item or undertaking as an appropriate memorial of a deceased family member or friend. We welcome your inquiry and would be glad to share with you specific proposals. Please contact Father John at either 384-0360 or 384-1172. Thank you for your consideration. With GratitudeWe are certainly most grateful to Ann Cigas, our Parish Chairman, for taking us over the top in our recently concluded Campaign for the 1998 Catholic Charities Appeal. As in past years, once again Ann has given her time and abilities generously to an important Archdiocesan cause, working with it from start to finish. Thank you, too, to Stella Grubb, our Parish Secretary, for her able assistance with organizing the Appeal. May God bless you both for your service to our Parish and your kindness to those in need! Thank you. Special CollectionA collection for the Holy Father will be taken up on June 27/28. "My heartfelt thanks for everything you have done to spread the light of Christs Gospel." Pope John Paul II. Please be as generous as always. A Family Perspective - Corpus ChristiToday's Gospel tells us that there were twelve baskets of bread and fish left after the crowd was fed. What do you think Jesus directed the apostles to do with those leftovers? What message is there for your family? IncenseIncense is burned in a pot to make smoke that smells. It is a way of hearing, seeing and smelling -- of sensing a place, a time, an honor. For Christians, incense honors God's holy presence; likewise, it honors God's holy people living and dead. Incense marks a procession toward the Creator, covers up the bad smells of corruption and helps celebrate the wholeness Christians share through Christ in the Holy Spirit. It leads to God, the joy of all creation. Journey '98Journey '98 is a Leadership Training Program for high school youth sponsored by the Office for Youth and Young Adults.
