This weekend, Confessions will be heard on Sunday, August 16th, from 9:45 to 10:15am, prior to the Morning Mass. Next weekend, Confessions will be heard on Saturday, August 22nd, from 5:45 to 6:15pm, prior to the Evening Mass. Also, the Sacrament of Reconciliation is available anytime upon request.

Keeping up-to-date and informed

From time to time, check out the various religious publications found in the rear of Church. There are different titled pamphlets dealing with matters of faith and circumstances of life. A limited number of copies of our Archdiocesan weekly newspaper, The Catholic Standard and Times, are available. And look for two fine monthly publications: The Catholic Digest and The St. Anthony Messenger. All are yours for the taking, in the interest of promoting reliable information and the Catholic press.

New Holy Water Fonts

Over the past few weekends, you may have been looking for the holy water fonts, usually found on the main aisle behind the last pews. Of course, you discovered that they were not at that location. Instead, new holy water fonts have been obtained and mounted on the wall close to the main doors of the Church. In appearance, they match the hardware in the vestibule and carry a baptismal design. The use of holy water to bless yourself, when entering the Church, is an obvious way of recalling holy Baptism, that first Sacrament by which a person gains entrance into the Church and fellowship with the already baptized. That distinctive symbolism is best served by placing the holy water fonts fairly close to the doors of the vestuble, helping to call to mind one's sacramental entrance of years back. Search no more; the holy water fonts are within immediate, easy reach after stepping through the front doors.

Do You Know Your Tribunal?

The Tribunal is a group of specially qualified priests, sisters, and lay persons. Their responsibility is to come to the help of persons who are the victims of unfortunate marriage situations.

When a divorce occurs, the Catholic Church is always caught between two tensions. One is the unbreakableness of the bond of marriage. Jesus Himself said: "What God has joined, man must not divide." This is God's law. It cannot be broken by human intervention.

On the other hand, the Church must be concerned about the spiritual welfare of the people involved, Can they be helped? Was this a true marriage? Even though the parties went through a Catholic marriage ceremony, was there some weakness in the consent of one or both of the persons involved?

The annulment procedure is designed to study the history of the marriage and why it failed. It does not affix the blame. If the marriage is annulled both parties are free.

If you could be helped, or have a friend or acquaintance who might be helped, please suggest that the person call the Tribunal. The Tribunal will be happy to forward an application. Have no fear. All interviews are private. There are no confrontations.
