Masses for the Week
CongratulationsCongratulations to Mr. & Mrs. LeRoy McComsey who celebrated their 40th Wedding Anniversary last Sunday at Mass. May every grace and blessing be theirs now and always! Block CollectionDuring the month of October we will have our annual, traditional Block Collection, to help defray our various and numerous church assessments and expenses. Your envelope can be used anytime during the month of October. Please be as generous as you have been in the past. Thank you and God bless you. Special Collection Next WeekendThrough our Baptism, each one of us is called to share in Jesus' mission to all peoples, all nations. Next weekend, October 17th/18th, designated as World Mission Sunday, we have a special opportunity to do this, by helping those who carry on the missionary task day by day, often in very difficult and dangerous circumstances. As we pray and offer our contributions through the Propagation of the Faith, we will help Priests, Sisters, Brothers and Lay Catechists who bring the Gospel to life among two-thirds of our human family. Please be as generous as your means allow to this annual appeal supporting the global mission, which Jesus has entrusted to the Church. God love you! New Parishioners' SundayAt this weekend's 10:30am Mass, we recognize our new parishioners in a special way, imparting the Church's suggested blessing for new members to a Parish. After Mass, an informal "get acquainted" reception over coffee and donuts will be held in the School Hall. All parishioners, old and new, are welcome to attend and strengthen the ties which unite us. Sacrament of ReconciliationThis weekend, Confessions will be heard on Sunday, October 11th, from 9:45 to 10:15am, prior to the morning Mass. Next weekend, Confessions will be heard on Saturday, October 17th, from 5:45 to 6:15pm, prior to the evening Mass. Also, the Sacrament of Reconciliation is available anytime upon request. Halloween PartyA meeting to plan the annual parish Halloween party will be held on Sunday, October 18th, after the 10:30am Mass. The meeting will be held in the school hall. Anyone willing to help with the party is asked to attend. We need your help to make this event a success. Pastoral CouncilA Pastoral Council meeting will be held on Monday, October 19th, at 7:30pm. The meeting will be held in the Rectory. All council members are urged to attend. |
A Family PerspectiveIn his letter to Timothy, read today, St. Paul speaks of his suffering as a result of all he has done for "those whom God has chosen" (that's you and me). Family members, especially parents, often have the same experience doing something out of love and getting grief for it. But like St. Paul, we know that the true rewards are not in this life. Parish Mission NearbySt. Cecilia Church, N. 6th Ave. & E. Chestnut St., is conducting a Parish Mission nightly, 7:00-8:00, from October 18th thru October 21st. Each evening offers a Program of Prayer, a Conference by the guest preacher and Fellowship over light refreshements. The Mission is being directed by Father Joe Payne, a Dominican priest and the author of "Befriending: A Self-Guided Retreat for Busy People." All are welcome to participate.
