Sacrament of ReconciliationThis weekend, Confessions will be heard on Sunday, March 14th,

Confessions will be heard on Saturday, March 20th, from 5:45 to
6:15pm, prior to the Evening Mass. Also, the Sacrament of Reconciliation
is available anytime upon request. Reconciliation WeekendIn preparation for the Great Jubilee Year 2000, Pope John Paul II invites us to be reconciled with God the Father through the Sacrament of Penance. As the Lenten Scriptures attest, "now is the acceptable time." Take advantage of the special arrangements which have been made for the Sacrament of Penance in Cluster 42 over the weekend of Friday, March 19th, and Saturday, March 20th. Confessions will be heard continuously in Our Lady of Consolation Church, 2nd and Chestnut Streets, Parkesburg on Friday, from 7:30 to 9:00pm, and on Saturday, from 10:00am to 4:00pm. At least two priests will be available at all times. As envisioned by our Archdiocese, this Millennium Event is a call to open wide our hearts and souls to the mercy and forgiveness of Jesus Christ. Lenten ServicesIn addition to the daily morning Mass at 9 o'clock, a mid-week evening Mass is offered every Tuesday at 7 o'clock. The Stations of the Cross Devotion is conducted on Fridays at 1:15pm, and immediately following the 9:00am Mass on Saturdays. Daffodil DaysIn the name of our Parish, a donation was made to the American Cancer Society by way of participating in their Annual Daffodil Days Campaign. These contributions help to provide patient services, as well as prevention, detection and education. A token number of daffodil bouquets will be distributed next weekend with the hope they will find their way to those who are sick or home bound. |
Special Collection this Weekend and NextThis weekend's Special Collection is designated as the 1999 Collection for the Archdiocesan High Schools. Catholic education on the secondary level is the work of the entire Catholic community. Please be generous. Next weekend, March 20th-21st, the Special Collection will benefit the rebuilding of the Catholic Church in Central and Eastern Europe after years of Communist rule. Please support the religious awakenings of a people now free by your thoughtful contribution to this special appeal. Thank you! Annual Forty Hours DevotionThis Sunday, Our Annual Eucharistic Forty Hours Devotion draws to a close. Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will begin after today's 10:30am Mass and continue through the day until a Solemn Procession and Prayer Service at 4:00pm. For this Service, Father Mark Carter, a Franciscan Friar from St. John the Evangelist Church, Philadelphia, will serve as our Guest Homilist. The children of our Parish are invited to walk in the Solemn Procession. They should gather in the rear of the Church by 3:45 this afternoon to receive instructions from Mr. Frank Lasak, Jr. Our Eucharist Ministers, too, are encouraged to be a part of the Procession and add to its impressiveness. A tasty cold buffet and all the fixings will be served, as a type of St. Joseph Day Table, in the School Hall, immediately following the Church Service. Continue the fellowship of the day; our Holy Patron will certainly smile upon this happy gathering in his honor. A Family PerspectiveLike the Pharisees in today's Gospel, it's easy for us to be blind of spirit, judging and rejecting people who see things differently than we do. Are you allowing some of the "different" people in your family to reveal Jesus to you?
