In the kindness of your prayers, please remember the Sick: Julia Esposito, Vera Lahm, John Yankech, Mary Riley, Elizabeth Taran, Lillian Turansky, Jean Moister, Lyndsey Conner, Christopher Rosado, Carolyn Pechin, Cecilia Shesko, Betty Kilgore, and the Dead: Rose Guldan.

Sacrament of Reconciliation

This weekend, Confessions will be heard on Sunday, April 18th, from 9:45 to 10:15am, prior to the Morning Mass. Next weekend, Confessions will be heard on Saturday, April 24th, from 5:45 to 6:15pm, prior to the Evening Mass. Also, the Sacrament of Reconciliation is available anytime upon request.

Anniversary Weekend Mass Schedule

Please note that on our 75th Anniversary Weekend, April 24th-25th, there will be a change in the Mass schedule. The Saturday Evening Mass will remain at 6:30pm, the usual time. On Sunday, however, Mass will not be offered at the usual 10:30am time. Our only Sunday Mass will be the Solemn Pontifical Mass of Thanksgiving at 1:00pm, with Bishop Joseph F. Martino as Principal Concelebrant. We call this change to your kind attention.

Urgent Appeal for Next Weekend

The sad, cruel situation in Kosovo, reported in the news media, moves all people of good will to compassion for their brothers and sisters who are suffering this terrible crisis. This is a moment requiring fervent prayer and financial sacrifice. For this reason, our Cardinal-Archbishop requests us to conduct a special appeal for the relief of the Kosovo refugees, an appeal to be made as soon as possible due to the great need for food and medical supplies.

The Second Collection next weekend, April 24th-25th, will benefit this very urgent cause. Your generous contributions would be most appreciated. Also, please keep in mind and prayer the sufferings of all those forced from their homes, as well as those who find themselves in harm's way during this crisis, including members of our armed services.

A Family Perspective

In today's Gospel, Jesus alerts us to the need to recognize the Shepherd's voice. Parents who keep their own ears tuned to Jesus' voice will teach their children to recognize it as well. That way, the whole family can "have life and have it to the full."

75th Anniversary Celebration

The joy of the Easter Season is compounded for us by our Parish Celebration of the 75th Anniversary of Founding next Sunday, April 25th, 1999. A Solemn Mass of Thanksgiving will be offered at 1:00pm in our Parish Church, with The Most Reverend Joseph F. Martino, Auxiliary Bishop of Philadelphia, as the Principal Concelebrant. Other Concelebrants will include Monsignor James McDonough, Regional Vicar for Chester County, Father Roman Kozacheson, O.F.M. Cap., a native son of our Parish, and Father John Ferrence, O.S.A., guest homilist for the occasion. Other priest-friends of the Parish, too, will join them at the altar.

Added to the beautiful music of our Parish Adult Choir and organist will be the talented instrumentation of the five piece Basilica Brass. It should truly be an uplifting Liturgy that rivals the very worship of the angels in heaven. You are encouraged to arrive early for a special Pre-Mass Musical Program beginning at 12:30pm. Our talented singers and musicians will present a medley of sacred song in keeping with our Anniversary Celebration.

A 75th Anniversary is a blessed moment in time and eternity. It is a remembering, rejoicing, renewing moment for the Parish Family of St. Joseph. It is a moment for us all to be the Church with and for one another. Come, share in the grace and gladness, faith and fellowship of this blessed moment!
