 Second Collection This Weekend

This weekend, we participate in the collection for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. The Campaign has been addressing the root causes of poverty in the United States for over 29 years. It has funded projects that empower low-income people to work together to solve community problems, strengthen families and build affordable housing. This nationwide program funds successful projects here in our own Archdiocese. Through the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, HOPE is yours to give. Please give generously. Thank you!

New Altar Servers

Boys and girls of the Parish, who have completed the Third Grade and have received their First Communion, are eligible to assist at the sacred ceremonies of the altar as altar servers. They should likewise have a sense of responsibility and dedication, be able to act with care and reverence in the sanctuary and possess an enthusiasm for the duties of a server. Certainly, too, the support and encouragement from interested parents are most important. Mr. Vince Krupansky is currently forming a group for the next series of instructions scheduled to begin on Sunday, July 25th, and to continue for the next several Sundays after the 10:30 AM Mass. Each session is one hour in length. To register your son or daughter, please fill in the sheet for altar server candidates found on the table in the church vestibule. Thank you!

 In Deep Appreciation

In all of Christendom, there is no more harder-working and dedicated group than our own Women’s Club of St. Joseph Church. Their giving of time, talent and treasure to advance the mission of our Parish Church is legendary. On June 27th, at a dinner meeting in the Peddler’s Inn, Club members gathered to conclude another successful year under the leadership of President Ann B. Cigas. On this ocassion, a $5,000.00 check was generously presented to St. Joseph Church by the ladies. Our heartfelt appreciation is extended to the Women’s Club for their concern and kindness, as measured not only by this wonderful monetary contribution, but also by their many enterprises which enhance the spirit of our parish family. God love you! And good luck to Andrea Levenite, the new President, and to the Executive Board members who will be serving with her. Thank you, one and all, most sincerely!.

 A Family Perspective

The parable of the sower in today’s Gospel is certainly a familiar one. It causes families to ask themselves how well-prepared their ground is for the word of God to grow and to check for any thorns or rocks that need to be removed.
