Sacrament of Reconciliation This weekend, Confessions will be heard on Saturday, August 28th, from 5:45 to 6:15pm, prior to the Evening Mass. Next weekend, Confessions will be heard on Sunday, September 5th, from 9:45 to 10:15am, prior to the Morning Mass. Also the Sacrament of Reconciliation is available anytime upon request. AdultChoir The Adult Choir will begin rehearsals for the 1999 - 2000 season on Monday night, September 20th at 7:30pm after the Youth Choir rehearsal. Returning members are asked to leave their folders and music in the choir loft any weekend before the 20th. We also cordially invite any new parishioners who might be interested (or existing parishioners for that matter), to join us on the 20th. Everyone is welcome in this group. The Adult Choir is not so much about whether or not you are a professional singer. But rather, its more about getting involved and sharing a little of your time and talents with your parish. If we occasionally hit a good note, all the better. I look forward to seeing you there. C. J. Cigas Youth Choir In order to prepare for the special Children's Mass and picnic to be held in Hibernia Park on Sunday, September 19th, the Youth Choir will hold practice beginning this Monday, August 30th at 6:45pm in the choir loft. The other practice before the event will be held two weeks from that on Monday, September 13th, at 6:45pm. No practice will be held on Labor Day, September 6th. Regular weekly practices will begin Monday, September 20th. If you have any questions, please call Susan Sandoski. CCD Registration Registration for CCD will be held in the school hall after the 10:30 Mass this Sunday and next Sunday. It is especially important that new students are registered. Classes are available for children starting with preschool (age 4) through sixth grade. If you have any questions, please call Frank Lasak. Classes will begin on September 26th. A Family Perspective Jesus makes it plain in today's Gospel that we cannot avoid suffering. Without Jesus' suffering death, we would not be saved. Archdiocesan High School Reopening Bishop Shanahan High School, Downingtown, will reopen with In-Service Days for teachers on Tuesday, September 7th and Wednesday, September 8th. Freshmen should report for a full day of classes on Thursday, September 9th. All students should report for school on Friday, September 10th. Parochial School Reopening Coatesville Area Catholic Elementary School will reopen on Monday, August 30th, for the 1999-2000 Scholastic Year. Half day sessions will be held on August 30th, with dismissal at 11:00am. No lunch is required. August 31st and September 1st & 2nd will be full day sessions, with dismissal at 2:15pm, for grades First through Eighth. There will be no school on Friday, September 3rd, and Monday, September 6th. Classes will resume on Tuesday, September 7th, for all grades. Uniform dress code is effective as of Monday, August 30th. Buses will be available. A Kindergarten Meeting for parents and students will be held on Wednesday, September 1st, at 10:00am in the Schneider Center on Cemetery Road, Parkesburg. All Kindergarten students will report on September 7th for a full day session, from 8:10am to 1:45pm. New To Our School Community As school bells ring to open the 1999-2000 scholastic year, we are pleased to welcome two new Sisters to our consolidated parochial school. Both are native Philadelphians and veterans of numerous teaching campaigns, and served respective terms as Principal. Sister Jeanne Marie Baker, I.H.M. has been assigned as Vice-Principal of Coatesville Area Catholic Elementary School. Recently arrived from the Archdiocese of Atlanta, Georgia, Sister Jeanne has also taught in parish schools of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, as well as those of the Dioceses of Allentown and Harrisburg. After having completed her assignment in the Diocese of San Jose, California, Sister Leonard Marie, I.H.M. returns East to become a teacher in our First Grade. Previously, Sister Leonard was a faculty member in parish schools of the Diocese of Allentown and the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Shrine Healing Service On Saturday, September 18th, at 2:00pm, Father Joseph Tizio, C.S.S.R. will conduct a Healing Service at the National Shrine of St. John Neumann, North 5th Street & Girard Avenue, Philadelphia.
