COMING PARISH MISSION Our three word logo, "Remembering, Rejoicing, Renewing," captures the spirit of this Parish 75th Anniversary Year. Next week we focus our attention on the renewing aspect of the St. Joseph Church Jubilee. From Sunday, September 26th, through Friday, October 1st, a full Passionist Parish Mission will be conducted for us. This is a very special Program of Prayer, Reflection and Renewal not only in observance of the Parish Anniversary, but also in anticipation of Christianity's Third Millennium. Father Claudio Piccinni, C.P., a preacher in great demand, is perhaps remembered by some as the visiting priest who worked spiritual wonders for the approving parishioners of Our Lady of the Rosary Church several years ago. It is the same Father Claudio who will be Mission Director next week. His main Mission Service will be conducted nightly at 7 o'clock. Plan to attend our Passionist Parish Mission. The investment of your time and attention during these days should bring wonderful spiritual dividends. SPECIAL COLLECTION NEXT WEEKEND Throughout the history of our Archdiocese, the faithful have evidenced a strong commitment to provide care for our retired and infirm priests. Two well-maintained facilities serve their needs: Regina Coeli Residence in Warminster and Villa St. Joseph in Darby. It is there that approximately 170 diocesan priests find a haven in their advancing age, frailty or ill health. The ability of the Archdiocese to care for our priests depends, in large measure, on your generosity. We appeal for your support of the Annual Collection for the Care of the Aging and Ill Priests, to be taken up at the masses next weekend, September 25th-26th. Think of your contribution as an opportunity to express gratitude for the many ways in which you have been blessed through the ministry of our priests. Thank you for your anticipated kindness. CLASS REUNION The Bishop Shanahan Class of 1979 is celebrating their 20th reunion on Friday, November 26th, 1999 at the new high school. For information call Vicki Vitale Eberwein at 610/383-9868. PAY OR REWARD A just wage? In the parable we hear today Jesus says it does not matter when his followers accept the way of salvation: It can be at the beginning or the end of a long life. The reward is the same - salvation! What really matters is faithfulness, no matter when we start. If we lag, the sacrament of penance always will give us a chance to start over! The Lord is always generous with us. "The last will be first, and the first last." How do we take up the Lord's work and accept the way of salvation? |
