Notice Something New?

In the last weeks of September, the shipment arrived from Italy containing our new Stations of the Cross, fourteen in all. Each is made of white marble composition and features a highly detailed, multi-charactered illustration of the Station. They stand out against the tan brick walls and tie in with the white figure of Christ on the large cross behind the main altar. Meant to be only temporary, the old plaque-style set of Stations served us well for more than thirty years. We are grateful to Bob Dunlap, our skilled parishioner, who unpackaged the Stations, and mounted them so securely and handsomely on the Church walls. They are dedicated to the memory of the late Helen and Andrew Bullock, whose thoughtful generosity made their purchase possible. We hope to have our new Stations of the Cross formally blessed in November.

Reminder

On October 24th, 1999 we will have a Second Collection for World Mission Sunday. Please pray...and give generously, helping the Church's missionary work throughout the world and in our own country.

In Appreciation

Thank you sincerely to all who had a hand in the successful execution of our 75th Anniversary Passionist Parish Mission. September 26th thru October 1st is certainly a week to remember, not only for our powerful, dynamic preacher, but also for the kinds efforts of those who helped with the various aspects of the Mission. The Fellowship, hosted by the Women's Club, in the Parish Hall on Thursday night was a very pleasant happening and even released Father Claudio's Musical talents to the delight of all. Thank you, too, to everyone who participated in the Services and promoted the Parish Mission. It assuredly was a blessed, grace-filled occasion.

Address Changes

We urge all parishioners to keep the Rectory informed of any change of address. It is very important to keep our records current and up-to-date. We certainly would appreciate your cooperation in this matter. Please call Stella at the Rectory (610/384-0360) Thank you.

Guests Invited

A wedding banquet to which those invited do not want to come? How strange! Luckily for us, we are among those invited later from the crossroads, highways and byways to fill up the tables. We do, however, need a "wedding garment". Our wedding garment for God's reign is the Christian baptismal and eucharistic life. This garment covers us with the Holy Spirit to share in the sacrificial banquet of the Lamb. Keeping our garment ready can be hard but, thankfully, we can do penance and be not only called, but chosen by the Lord God. RSVP

Annual Needlework Guild Collection

Once again, Margaret Florian has agreed to chair our annual Needlework Guild Collection sponsored by the Women's Club. This is our one community effort in which we hope all our parishioners will participate. The articles collected will be used locally by The Salvation Army, Brandywine Hospital, Home Health Care, and Pocopson Home.

Articles needed are baby clothes, to make Layettes (no cloth diapers), children's clothing such as footed sleepers (not blanket sleepers), etc. Men's shirts, t-shirts, socks and underwear. Women's underwear and knee socks. Almost anything is acceptable but IT MUST BE NEW.

The Women's Club Annual In-gathering will be held at our October Meeting which is held the fourth Sunday of the month. If you cannot make the meeting, please give your donation to Margaret. Also, Margaret would be more than willing to do your shopping for you. Looking forward to your usual support and cooperation in this worthy cause.

As always, thank you for your continued support of the Women's Club of St. Joseph's.
