World Mission Sunday

This weekend, October 23rd-24th, is observed as World Mission Sunday, a time when the Church calls us to special prayer and sacrifice for the Missions all over the globe. Catholic missionaries offer the Good News of Jesus and they themselves are good news as, in His name, they nourish spirits, teach young minds, heal the sick, strive for justice. Please be generous as possible to this special appeal. What we offer today will help Missions at home and abroad. And, please, pray daily for our missionaries and for those they serve. God love you!

Lively Entertainment

St. Stanislaus Kostka Church invites all to enjoy "A Merry Sunday with Joe Gracia's Polka Express" on November 14th, 2:00 to 6:00pm, in the Polish American Citizens' Club, 15 Strode Avenue. Featured will be the lively music of Eastern Europe and other favorites, as well as a delicious hot and cold buffet. Tickets are $10.00, available from Helen, Maryann and Father John at 610-384-1172.

Regional Vicar's Visit

We are expecting the visit of Monsignor James T. McDonough, the Regional Vicar for Chester County, on Sunday, November 14th. Throughout autumn, Monsignor McDonough will be visiting the Parishes of our Coatesville-Parkesburg Cluster, at which time he celebrates morning Mass and enjoys an informal reception with parishioners. Our Regional Vicar comes among us as the personal representative of our Cardinal-Archbishop; let us offer him a warm and memorable welcome. Please plan to be in attendance on November 14th.

A Family Perspective

In the Domestic Church of our families the ways in which we nurture our own relationship with God and the way in which we respond to the needs of others can provide our children with clear, practical examples of what it is to live the two inseparable commandments of love for God and neighbor.

Sacrament of Confirmation

Our modest number of candidates dictates that a Bishop Administers the Sacrament of Confirmation once every three years, rather than annually. In accord with this arrangement, the Most Reverend Martin N. Lohmuller, retired Auxiliary Bishop of Philadelphia, will administer this Sacrament of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost Sunday, June 11th, 2000 at the 10:30am Mass. There is certainly no more appropriate day for Confirmation than the Solemnity of Pentecost, the very day on which the Apostles of the Lord received the fullness of His Spirit. Parents with children eligible for the Sacrament should take note, please, of the assigned date and time. A meeting with our parents will be scheduled for a weeknight in November.

Opening Days of November

November 1st brings the annual Solemnity of All Saints, a remembrance of all the blessed ones, known and unknown, who rest happily in the risen Lord. Usually a holy day of obligation, the feast this year falls on a Monday and thus the obligation of attending Mass is lifted. Mass will be offered that morning at 9:00 in St. Joseph Church.

November 2nd is observed as the Remembrance of All Souls, a solemn day to pray for the ultimate happy repose of the holy souls in Purgatory. On that day, Masses will be celebrated at 9:00 and 9:30am in St. Joseph Church, as well as at 5:00pm in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church. Public Prayer will be conducted at 12:00 noon in the Parish Cemetery on Waterworks Road, weather permitting.

You are reminded to turn in the names of your beloved deceased on the All Souls Day envelope provided in the box of offering envelopes. Your remembered dead and all the faithful departed will share in the spiritual benefits of the Masses said on November 2nd, and will be recalled at the altar all throughout the month of November. May God be good to them!

Halloween Party Planning Meeting

A short meeting to plan the party will be held Sunday October 24th after the 10:30 Mass.  We will meet in the school hall.

Halloween Party

Our annual parish Halloween party will be held on October 31st. This party is for all the children of the parish. It will be held in the school hall from 1-3 pm. Please come and join in the fun. Each child should bring one bag of candy (individually wrapped candy bars, lollypops, etc.).

Jubilee Justice

"Do not deal unfairly," says the Lord. In the Great Jubilee of the Year 2000, Christians are to conduct their affairs fairly. If they do so, they will dwell securely in the land, according to the Lord. All creation belongs to God, and humans are pilgrims traveling through on their way home in God's heavenly reign. Here is not a lasting city. As a body of passersby, Christians set their sights on the glory of Christ's risen body. In Christ, members love God above all and their neighbors as themselves. With such love, how could one not deal fairly?
