Regional Vicar's Visit We are expecting the visit of Monsignor James T. McDonough, the Regional Vicar for Chester County, on Sunday, November 14th. Throughout Autumn, Monsignor McDonough will be visiting the Parishes of our Coatesville-Parkesburg Cluster, at which time he celebrates morning Mass and enjoys an informal reception with parishioners. Our Regional Vicar comes among us as the personal representative of our Cardinal-Archbishop; let us offer him a warm and memorable welcome. Please plan to be in attendance on November 14th. Thank You for your Generosity! On World Mission Sunday, our parishioners contributed $665.00 for the missionary work of the Church. Our offering through the Propagation of the Faith will be a great help for the needs of missions around the world and in our country, enabling millions to be enriched by the message of Christ and to experience what it means to be loved by Christ. Please continue to pray for all who serve in the Missions. We benefit greatly from their prayers. A Family Perspective Paul's letter serves as a valuable reminder that parental love involves sharing not only "God's word but our very lives." What we say to our children about a God who is love becomes believable and real when they experience loving family relationships. |
Opening Days of November November 1st brings the annual Solemnity of All Saints, a remembrance of all the blessed ones, known and unknown, who rest happily in the risen Lord. Usually a holy day of obligation, the feast this year falls on a Monday and thus the obligation of attending Mass is lifted. Mass will be offered that morning at 9:00am in St. Joseph Church. November 2nd is observed as the Remembrance of All Souls, a solemn day to pray for the ultimate happy repose of the holy souls in Purgatory. On that day, Masses will be celebrated at 9:00am and 9:30am in St. Joseph Church, as well as at 5:00pm in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church. Public Prayer will be conducted at 12:00 noon in the Parish Cemetery on Waterworks Road, weather permitting. You are reminded to turn in the names of your beloved deceased on the All Souls Day envelope provided in the box of offering envelopes. Your remembered dead and all the faithful departed will share in the spiritual benefits of the Masses said on November 2nd, and will be recalled at the altar all throughout the month of November. May God be good to them! Halloween Party Our annual parish Halloween party will be held this Sunday, October 31st. This party is for all the children of the parish. It will be held in the school hall from 1-3 pm. Please come and join in the fun. Each child should bring one bag of candy (individually wrapped candy bars, lollypops, etc.). Intentions for November 1. That all who have died, may rejoice forever in the company of the saints. 2. That all those who hold political power will never use it to deprive their people of the right to worship. He scolded ministers who do not practice what they preach. In liturgical celebration, as in all life, Christians serve one another. Do not assembly members minister to others by their example of faith, by kindness and by remaining true to their baptismal covenant? Are Christians excused from humble service when they are commissioned or ordained for ministries other than that of the assembly? They do not stop being God's people. Here is the paradox of the heavenly reign: Those who exalt themselves are humbled; those who humble themselves are exalted. |
